People can have their opinion about the woman who wears veil. For some people veil means obedient of religion, for others means traditional and fanatic, but for some others it is mean self identity or fashion statement. Not like in other moslem majority country like Saudi Arabia and iran, where the government rules veil application, veil in Indonesia flourishing parallel with local and other culture here. Typically Indonesian people, we like to adapt any culture that come to society. It also happens to veil. For example: veil combined with jeans or a modification ethnic dress with veil like many moslem woman bride do today. Nowadays I realized that veil has become a commodity in fashion industry. There are so many types and models of veil. Veil can be full cover, black color and seem mysterious. It also can be white color with grace and fidelity look. But veil also can be sexy, colorful and light. People can judge the woman who wear veil negative or positive. It is shown diversity of veil application signing that moslem woman in Indonesia have their own right and capability to define veil wearing trough what their believe and heart convenient. What ever people think about the woman who wearing veil, for me the diversity of veil application is a character of freedom that Indonesian moslem woman in determining her identity.
