http://www.lightstalkers.org/galleries/contact_sheet/34177 When it was decided that I would make a story in lomography, a bit was puzzled thinking on what it would be? What do I see around me that may fulfill it? I was thinking about our country, its history and my city Dhaka, threading so many things. At last, I selected my city as my subject. I was born and brought up in this city. I have observed closely every change occurred in this city in my life time. Dhaka is a 4 hundred years old city on the bank of the river, Buriganga. It is a city of pasts, heritages, traditions, cultures, pride and presents. This city bears a lot of signs of its pasts. This city is the souvenir of a lot of things of past and present. Movement for Mother Language in 1952, achieved freedom in 1971 through a nine-month’s guerilla war and a lot of more. Now it is the capital city of Bangladesh. High-rises and shopping-malls costing millions of dollars is being built continuously on one side, and on the other side, hundreds of dream-broken and jobless and shelter less people are roaming round the city. Very expensive cars are running here as well as few tom-toms (a cart run by two horses) are seen running on the road bearing the ancestor’s trends. The old part of Dhaka, till today offers Bakorkhani (traditional dry breads) to their guests as contemporary fast foods. Though we made the river, Burigonga dirty throwing lots of garbage, it keeps us well with its immense love. Overcoming hard political crisis’s city gives a warm reception to welcome the season, spring and arrange a festival for this season. Here people pray to God Almighty for forgiveness as well as men for wisdom they remembers the goddess, Swarasoti. People of this city know how to love others. Here child labor available at the cost of an ice-cream. And day labourers give a day long service at the cost of one liter octane only. Present Generations though don’t know their history, but is hopeful that they want to know the right history. It’s a part of story about Dhaka. I want to tell to you all through my lens.
