Mehmet Oztekim sells gramophones in the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul, Turkey, on Monday, Aug. 15, 2005. Istanbul's Kapali Carsi (covered market) was created in 1461 by Mehmet the Conqueror, Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. With its more than 4400 shops, 65 streets, mosques, banks, police stations, barber shops, restaurants and workshops is like a town on its own and has been the trade center of Istanbul for centuries.
