http://www.lightstalkers.org/galleries/contact_sheet/3740 La fête de la Pachamama, qui tire ses racines de la culture andine traditionnelle, est celle de la "Terre-mère" : elle consiste à donner symboliquement à la terre à boire et à manger, à la fois pour la remercier de ce qu´elle a prodigué l´année écoulée, et pour lui demander de continuer à donner à ses "enfants" ce dont ils ont besoin pour vivre. Jusqu´à récemment, elle était qualifiée de païenne par l´Église locale, et il arrive encore que des ecclésiastiques zélés la condamnent pour telle. Pourtant, loin d´être un reniement par rapport aux cultes catholique et évangéliste, elle fait depuis longtemps partie intégrante du calendrier religieux ; lors de la célébration, les prières à la Pachamama se mêlent aux Pater et aux Ave, beaucoup plus latins, et il est d´usage de se signer avant et après l´offrande à la terre. Cette fete prouve bien que le Nord-Ouest argentin ne fait pas exception par rapport aux autres regions andines. Il y a, malgré les frontieres, et malgré les tentatives d´acculturation de l´Etat argentin, une continuité culturelle des Hauts-Plateaux andins. Le retour d´un certain "indigénisme" dans la vie politique et culturelle andine est bien connue en ce qui concerne le Pérou et la Bolivie notamment, mais nul n´en parle en Argentine. Cette célébration ne doit donc pas etre comprise comme un avatar un peu "kitsch" d´une civilisation morte. En fait, comme nous l´a confié une des personnes avec qui nous avons feté la Pachamama, celle-ci était depuis longtemps tres peu pratiquée, mais c´est récemment qu´elle a repris son importance symbolique passée : sa "renaissance" coïncide donc avec le retour sur la scene de mouvements indigénistes des pays andins. Elle constitue elle aussi une pacifique peut-etre, mais bien reelle, la revendication d´une identitité volée. http://www.lightstalkers.org en-us
