http://www.lightstalkers.org/galleries/contact_sheet/3809 Belen, sometimes called "the Venice of the Amazon", hangs on to the side of Iquitos, close to the tri-state border in the Loreto district of Peru. During the dry season it is a normal slum town, but as the flood waters from the two surrounding rivers rise, so too does the town on rafts of balsa wood.
