Thousands of tourists pass through each year, almost all of them staying in Siem Reap in order to visit the world famous Angkor Wat complex. As a result, hotels of all shapes and sizes have sprung up, all hoping to gain a share of the lucrative tourism industry. In order to provide quality stays and a comfortable environment to the tourists, a troupe of young women work tirelessly from morning till night in these hotels, doing everything from laundry services to room cleaning. Unnoticed by most of the tourists, they play a fundamental role in the running of the hotels.
