The driver of a car lost control on Sheed Rd. near Harrison Ave. and careened into a fire hydrant sending water up into the air at least 100 feet. The driver walked away from the accident, but was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons. The stability of overhead power lines were a concern to emergency responders on the scene. As part of "Downtown Dazzle", an organized effort to boost commerce during the holiday season, Carl Fries plays the role of Santa Claus as he repels down the side of the Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Cincinnati. To kick off a fireworks display, Fries made his way safely down the 210-foot wall while thousands watched below. "This is a great thrill for me," he said. The case caused suspicion, particularly following news of an earlier terrorist attack in London that day.
