"Four Thousand Island...Where the Mekong Die?" (by Suthep Kritsanavarin) http://www.lightstalkers.org/galleries/contact_sheet/9540 My documentary project, “Four Thousand Islands…Where the Mekong Dies?” focuses on endangered species like the Giant Catfish and other important species, thrashing their way upstream and downstream and sometimes into the nets of fishermen, and on the people who risk their lives in a daily struggle to net their catch. I have been photographing life along this lower Mekong region for more than three years. I have observed how the lack of conservation threatens and impacts the livelihood of the people in this region. My project utilizes research papers, as well as direct experiences with the villagers of Siphandon and the Lower Mekong Basin in Laos, Cambodia and Thailand. Through dedication and frequent returns, I had been able to photograph the migration of the Giant Catfish in Siphandon. http://www.lightstalkers.org en-us http://images.lightstalkers.org/avatars/16087/Suthep_small.jpg Four Thousand Island...Where the Mekong Die? | Suthep Kritsanavarin http://www.lightstalkers.org/Suthep Kritsanavarin Samnieng Kambai crosses the Khone falls to reach his traditional fishing trap on the Mekong River in Siphandon, southern Laos.
