I’ve been a photojournalist for more than 10 years for various world known photo agencies such as Laif, Polaris images or Abaca in France and in the U.S where I lived for about 5 years. This period of time led me to question the impact of the stories I was covering for these news organizations and I realized that I could go a little bit further. The last couple of years profoundly changed my view on this profession. I’m not considering myself only as a photographer but rather as a visual storyteller focusing on deep stories that matters and can inspire others to change the Status Quo. Whether I use a camera to photograph or record video, the only thing that is important to me now is the quality of the story I’ll tell as well as for the picture I produce.

Support Edouard Elias, hostage in Syria

It’s been more two month and a half now that Edouard Elias (Haytham Pictures) and his colleague Didier François (Europe1) have been abducted in Syria. A couple of weeks before, we made an interview with Edouard that was meant to be the first episode of a series about Haytham photographers.

Since june though, this video represents a little bit more than that for Chewbahat, me and Laura Surroca. This is our contribution to a broader effort, a commitment to help Edouard – and of course Didier – to come back by raising awareness on the difficult conditions to be a war photographer.

Thanks to Visa Pour l’Image-Perpignan, Jean Francois Leroy and Delphine Lelu for publishing this video too.
