I am an independent photographer based in Madrid, Spain.

I started my career in photography after graduating in Media Science and Journalism at the Universita’ di Bologna, Italy.

I have worked on assignment for magazines such as Rolling Stone, IL, Monocle, IoDonna, Das Magazine, Ling; and I have published my work on L’Espresso, YoDona, El Pais among others. You can see some tearsheets here.

Besides magazine works, I did corporate jobs for:
Novartis Campus, Basel.
Actes Sud, Arles.
Teatro La Fenice, Venice.
La Fabrica and PhotoEspaña Festival.
Universidad Europea de Madrid.

In 2007 I have worked with Stanlely Greene and Kadir Van Lohuizen of Noor Images on
“Focus on Monferrato” a 10 days project to document the life in Piemonte, north of Italy. The work will be featured in a travelling exhibition.

I’ve been part of Cesuralab, an italian photographic collective based in Milan, whose art director is Alex Majoli, Magnum Photos.

From the 2009 I am part of Reflexions Masterclass, an international seminar for the teaching of contemporary photography which has hosted some of the finest young authors from the world over. The seminar is conducted by Giorgia Fiorio and Gabriel Bauret.

I have partecipated with my pictures in:

Room & Board:
Cesuralab offers a list of hostels and hotels. There are plenty of good and
affordable restaurants in the area. Participants can choose where they want
to stay and costs are at their expense.

A selection of your work is essential to present to the teacher and your fellow
students at the start of the workshop. Make sure you have your work ready
for presentation. (jpegs files in low res. 2000 pixel width 72dpi in case of
digital portfolio)
It will be very useful for the instructor in order to evaluate your photographic
level and determine what steps you have made by the end of the

Bring your cameras, possibly digital. You will be shooting with what you
bring in case of needed.
For any technical or practical problem, Cesuralab staff is there to help.

The courses, with a few exceptions, are held in English.

Paolo Pellegrin was born in 1964 in Rome. He became a Magnum
Photos nominee in 2001 and a full member in 2005. He is a contract
photographer for Newsweek magazine. Pellegrin is winner of many
awards, including eight World Press Photo and numerous Photographer
of the Year Awards, a Leica Medal of Excellence, an Olivier Rebbot
Award, the Hansel-Meith Preis, and the Robert Capa Gold Medal
Award. In 2006 he was assigned the W. Eugene Smith Grant in
Humanistic Photography.
He is one of the founding members of the touring exhibition and
installation Off Broadway along with Thomas Dworzak, Alex Majoli and
Ilkka Uimonen. He has published four books. He lives in New York and
