Gigie Cruz recently finished the Diploma Course on Photojournalism through a scholarship grant given by the World Press Photo and Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Before taking the photojournalism course, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture at the University of Santo Tomas. She then proceeded to work as a development worker for an international alliance of non-profit organizations and individuals campaigning for ecological and sustainable discard management practices. Cruz gets the opportunity to use her photography skills as part of her advocacy and volunteer work for environmental groups.
