Gianni Cipriano is a photojournalist currently based in New York. He is currently a freelance photographer for The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. His clients and publications include The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The International Herald Trubune, The Sunday Times Magazine (London), The British Journal of Photography, Photo District News, Il Fotografo, Sunday Lancaster News and The South Florida Sun Sentinel. He graduated in the 2007/08 Documentary Photography and Photojournalism Program at the International Center of Photography in New York and interned with VII photojournalist Ron Haviv.
Gianni Cipriano was awarded a Director’s Fellowship from the International Center of Photography in February 2008 and was “highly commended†by the judges of the Ian Parry Scholarship 2008 in London. He will be attending the Eddie Adams Workshop XXI.
American Photography has selected one his photographs for the 2008 book “AP24â€. He is among the winners of the 2008 Editorial Photographers contest and he received an honorable mention by the American Society of Media Photographers of New York in 2008.
Gianni Cipriano’s photographs have been exhibited at the International Center of Photography in New York, at the Getty Images Gallery, at the Pingyao Festival in China, and at the Perpignan Festival in France with the collaboration of ANI (Association Nationale des Iconographes).
Gianni Cipriano was born in 1983 and has lived in Italy, the United States and Switzerland. He first studied Aerospace Engineering and then Architecture at the University of Palermo, Italy. He assisted a fashion, still-life and advertising photographer in Palermo for two years, before moving to New York in 2007.
