Anyone here work as a freelance photo editor in addition to working as a photographer? I find that when a photo editor contacts me looking for a specific type of image from a specific place, if I don’t have the right picture, I often know who does.

I’m always happy to pass on friends and colleagues names for assignments that I can’t take on, but this is a bit of a different situation. It happens to me frequently enough that I figure it must be happening to others as well.

Recently, a photo editor for a glossy mag contacted me for a specific image, I sent what I had (not quite right) and then the next day a freelance photo researcher contacted me on behalf of the same mag, looking for the same specific image.

Seems like there’s a difference between monetizing the knowledge of who has what pix in their archive and working as a freelance photo editor, but just curious if anyone LS members have found themselves in similar situations and how you all have proceeded?
