Hi friends,
So, there have been many threads on LS to help us share knowledge and help the young emerging photographers.
We’ve all seen Michael’s brilliant thread with advice for young photographs (http://www.lightstalkers.org/advice_for_young_photographers ) and we all enjoyed Mustafah’s extremely useful thread on travle tips (http://www.lightstalkers.org/extended-travel-tricks-tips ).
I was hoping we could start another one focusing on techniques for doing documentary work.
I have a couple of questions to sort of"kick it off" but I’d love to hear general tips you guys have on the subject.
Here we go: ;)
- story selection – where do you start? Where do you go from there?
- building a rapport with subjects – how do you do it?
- how to maximize the use of interpreters and fixers?
- What techniques do you use for writing field notes and maximizing the knowledge you can get first hand from the subjects?
Thanks guys :)
