What would a young photojournalist without an agency need to do if he found himself in Beijing during the summer Olympics next year?

My schedule puts me in China next summer. Does anyone have experience working his or her way into an Olympics?

I’m not as interested in sitting in the press boxes and snapping sports shots, as finding stories of emerging China, and the Olympic’s effect on Chinese people.

I have the contacts and travel experience to take care of practicalities and logistics of getting there and finding stories, but I’m new to the photojounralism field, and I’ve never handled anything like this before on the business end.
