Got a new website!!

Hi All

Finally I got my renewed website up and running. It is totally based on Wordpress and has an integrated blog in the sidebar. Comments and/or suggestions are much appreciated and also if you find any bugs please let me know. It’s www.micheldegroot.com

Cheers!

in general it looks good, though i am having trouble seeing the “portraits” and “tearsheets” on the lower frame of your homepage.

but overall it looks good. i love those georgia pics. i just redesigned my site too and know how painstaking (especially integrating a blog page into one’s homepage) it can be.

nice job,
dave

wow you build the whole thing around Wordpress?? That’s cool. Like the new layout, better than the old black one.

The link is not working..

Yes Ty. for some unknown (to me) reason the site was down today for a few hours. But it is running now.

Thanks David. I do the site building myself and it has taken me quite some time to finish the whole thing. It was an issue to decide whether or not I would require visitors to scroll the frontpage to see all content. On my 20” screens it’s no issue but on a smaller screen scrolling the front page is inevitable.

Rutger thanks. I chose for Wordpress because I wanted to integrate my blog into my main site and besides that the Wordpress system gives me the ability to update and change the content anytime and from anywhere. Once it is running it works very easy without need of a webdesign application. There are still some minor issues in the site that I have to deal with but it runs now and more fine tuning will happen in the coming weeks. Btw, since you’re living in Rotterdam as well. Let’s grab a coffee or a beer sometime.

Nice Michel. I was looking at your DRR integration. For a little bit of money, you could get DRR to customise the top of your archive page so that it emulates your own website’s top-menu, then have your archive link open within the website’s window (not a new one). Then the whole thing appears to exist within the one site.

I don’t know if that made sense but you can see it on my site at www.wadelaube.com – click on the Archive tab to see what I mean.

Wade.

edit: never mind.. will add to ayawtco instead.

i like your square portraits, the site looks professional though perhaps a little busy for my taste.

btw, for anyone who wants an “updatedablefromanywhere” blog on their site but doesnt want to revamp their entire homepage like michel did (kudos again btw, i do love the fact that your whole site, not just the blog, can be updated from anywhere), it is possible to incorporate just a blog (updateablefromanywhere) into one’s own site using a floating html box. pretty simple in iweb, the web software i use.

the tricky part is editing the html code in blogger.com or wordpress to match your own site (text size, font. color etc.). check out my site, www.davidlroot.com, for the results.

i still cant get over those georgia pics michel, great work!

Michel, that whole updatefromanywhere idea sounds great. You can tell me how you pulled that off over a cold beer anytime.

David, thanks again. Regarding the Georgia (Alilo procession) pictures, They are the result of a new approach in my photography and I am quite happy with it.

Rutgher lets have that cold beer soon.

Thanks guys!
