I am a freelance journalist, based in New York and Stockholm. Since 1995, I have reported from several countries and continents around the world, including the United States, China, Indonesia, India, Australia, Brazil, Europe, and the Middle East.
I work with my own story ideas, which tend to be on politics, people, development, human rights, and humanitarian affairs.
I have reported on recent major stories – such as on how global warming affects fishermen in Greenland, on migrant school children in China, on the training of American soldiers for Iraq, and on the recent election in Haiti. But I also cover the arts, food and restaurants, and often do newsy personal profiles.
I have been the USA news correspondent/stringer for TT (the Swedish National News Agency) since 2003, and write for several news papers and magazines, primarily of my native Sweden. I have editorial experience from TT, the Swedish Radio’s foreign news department (Ekot), Svenska Dagbladet, and Newsweek International in New York.
Most of my work is reporting/writing. But I have also had a large number of news feature stories with own pictures published, in photography-oriented Swedish publications such as Svenska Dagbladet, Göteborgsposten, FOKUS, Amnesty Press and BARN.
In addition, I also collaborate with several photograpers, based in various locations around the world.
I hold an MIA (Master’s Degree in International Affairs) from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, and a BA in Journalism from Stockholm University. I have also taken a course at the Institute of Contemporary Photography in New York.
