Hasselblad Award 2006
Wonderful photographer who has been at the top of his craft for many years. His book “Some Afrikaaners Photographed” was the book that made get serious about photography. Met him a few times in Cape Town and Joburg in the sixties and seventies. The father of South African photography.

check out the book of his retrospective “51 Years”!!! :))))...one of my favorite pics: the old white man sitting, beside him the daughter of his black servant: between them a frame portrait of another man (ghost?): African Gothic is what a thought…magisterial, ghostly, profound photograph….congratulations to Mr. Goldblatt. :)...bob

FYI, the Hasselblad Foundation usually publishes a book of the photographers work when they make the award. These are always relatively cheap and have an excellent interview with the photographer.
