Help test a new server

Hi all, Shinji here. As you know, we’re in a constant race to upgrade Lightstalkers’ servers as fast as the traffic grows. We’ve just finished deploying a major upgrade, in the form of a new server — codename “Defjam”.

Before we roll this out for everyone’s use, we’d like to see some real-world testing. If you’re up for it, you can switch to using Defjam right now: just go to http://defjam.lightstalkers.org, and you’ll be on the new metal. You can try uploading images, making posts, updating your profile, tracking grants, or whatever else you do; it’s operating on the same database as “www” so it’s completely live in that respect.

If you try it out, do note that clicking links may inadvertently take you back to “www”, instead of Defjam. In particular, if you want to log in on Defjam, use this link:

https://defjam.lightstalkers.org/login

You may see a “security warning” about the certificate; you can disregard this. (It’s still encrypted and secure; the browser’s just trying to prevent spoofing. Defjam is our server, I promise.)

Thanks in advance to anyone who helps out; this is going to be a summer of major upgrades, and your testing will help it go more smoothly!

If you do find a bug on Defjam, or have feedback, please send it to support@lightstalkers.org. We have a backlog of email right now, but we’ll get through it all and send you a personal response.

Thanks again,
SK
