Hotel Dubai

Hello,

I’m going to Dubai tomorrow and on to Afghanistan from there.
Does anybody know a good place to stay in Dubai, just for one night?

Thanks a lot.
Christoph.

Define “good.” You mean cheap and convenient or truly excellent high-end facilities?

What’s your price? Places $100 and up are legion. Cheaper places, less so.

I’ve stayed at the Hotel La Paz, a cheap Indian-run “family” hotel (that’s Dubai code for no prostitutes or Russians allowed) in the Gold Souq area. Was about $35 a night in 2004.

Thanks Preston.

I’m looking for mid-range. less than $100, more than $17.83

we stayed at al maha regency in sharjah in november and it was decent. it was about $85/night with free airport pickup both ways. with traffic it’s a trek into dubai proper, but it’s not far in distance. and it was convenient to the airport. http://www.almaharegency.net/a0800frm.htm

christoph, how are you?!?

i stayed at the IBIS Hotel in 2005 which is part of the International Trade Center complex for $80 a night. Super clean and really comfortable bed and gigantic window with amazing science fiction view of Dubai skyscrapers. Very small room, though, that’s the trade-off. 3 star facilities in a 1 star sized room. Kind of like NY in this regard!

I stayed there a 5 or 6 days and by the end was willing to pay more for a bigger room - but they don’t have any, all rooms are the same - but for one night for you it’s more than adequate. At that time they had high-speed internet in the lobby (which has a nice bar/cafe) and maybe by now they have it in the rooms.

Christoph:

will be staying at the Panorama Hotel, Deira on Thursday, en route to Kabul as well. The Panorama is aprox 100 US per night and comes highly recommended. Hope we can connect in K-town.

Best,
Mark
