you might try the ymca there are a few in manhattan, cheapest rate is 85.00 nerar the U.N. I think. there is one in wiliamsburg I believe for 43.00 a night. go online it will tell you accurate pricing. very communal though have to share facilities with other guests but have clean private rooms with a tv. hope this helps…Pat

Jazz on Lenox hostel, 104 West 128 Street (Harlem), +1.212.222.5773. A few blocks away from the subway. Prices $28 +tax and up. Stayed there 1 night, was ok. Free wifi. Brooklyn would probably be nicer though…

thank you all for your help.
someone gave me this address and it looks great. though i still do not know where it is located. keep it yourself just in case someone asks you again :)
http://ilovedormitory.com/dormitories.php
The site is not graphically ok though you could see how the rooms like anyway.
It’s a Japanese owned domitory and it looks clean and great for woman. Rooms, shower room, toilet are separated man and woman.
For domitory $29
For single bed $35
email them and ask further if she wants.

Hi, Lourdes,
It’s at 136st. in NYC.
It should be good for your friend.
Good luck to her,
youme.

Hi Lourdes,
Youme’s right – probably good for your friend, with the euro & all -, though it might be “a little bit far” from the city (since 136st is in upper-Harlem).
Then again, have you ever heard about www.couchsurfing.com ?(you can meet & sleep on people’s couches for free).
Later, Tanguy.

136th st is not far, just 10-15 minutes by subway from midtown….
