How to publish????

Hi all. I’m trying to get in the professional world of photography. I just started and I don’t have that much contacts and addresses (as well as experience) where to show my works. I sent mails to those few agencies and magazines that I know, but no reply yet!!!!! I understood that it’s quite normal and it’s really difficult (especially for the subjects that I’m interested in), but I see that is not impossible.
There is anyone that have advises or suggestions in how to promote or sell my works, or may be is interested on what I have done so far?

Beside all, if you have a look at my web site www.alessandrovincenzi.it comments are more than welcome.

Thanks a lot.

I like your stuff, but I cannot help you with your request.

I got published a couple of times, but both times I have been contacted by the magazines.

Alessandro, you have some outstanding work..you say you just started but you have a of of work – has it all been self funded to date? You have tried to get an agency? In your case it may be worth it to buy a list of contacts..

If you have some specific magazines you want to reach though you can pm me and maybe I will have the info..

Alessandro,

your work is wonderful, very strong and thorough, you should have no problems once you get the first foot in the door. Take Erica up on her offer and persist, persist, persist. You really have an impressive body of work, congratulations!

Ciao Alessandro,
have you been to Perpignan? The festival could be a good starting point and for sure a good experience for you.
I would also suggest you to call magazines you are interested in and speak with the photoeditor, it is always better than emailing.
good luck

Alessandro,

I have looked at your photos and read your bio. Massimo`s idea is a good one because you are based in Madrid. Have you shown your photographic work to your boss at work? MSF itself should be interested in your work. Unless Erica`s contact includes non-profit types, I would concentrate on organizations in Europe. For that reason, Perpignan might be a good place to go.

I know one photographer whos is solely working for NGO`s. He is an LS member I got to know through my making a PhotoShelter list. He is based in Cambodia, I think. I`ll contact him for additional info. Also I can think of a Japanese photojournalism magazine. Here is the link to the magazine. I am not a photojournalist, so I don`t have any practical experience in getting myself published in the area.

Another approach is to present your website differently so that your photos are indexed as texts. By this I mean that you are currently presenting your photos as flash, so Google won`t know much about your work.

Either do it like John Vink does and/or start a blog. In both ways, the texts will be indexed so that people interested in your subjects will get to know your works.

hi all…yes the plan is to change the website soon to be reachable also in google!!!

my works have been founded by me, except those done during my missions with MSF where i was as biologist not and not as photographer (i was taking photos during spear time).
i went to perpignan last year, but just to try to have a better understanding of the world of photography and i didn’t go with a professional approach…this year it will be different!

anyway thanks to all of you and i might send pm
thaks again
