About

I am a Berkeley, CA born and raised photographer and web-designer with a MFA in Photography, Video & Related Media from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. I shoot news and editorial as well as commercial and advertising photography.

My design work specifically involves Flash development and web page elements that are directly related to the application (PHP, mySQL, HTML…). I work for artists / photographers / individuals but also work for corporate clients including the Sacramento Kings.

I’m currently located in Kolkata, India with my wife. Otherwise we hop from here to the Bay Area and New York City as frequently as we can or as is required.

For the last few years I’ve been teaching photography courses in Kolkata and at the Light & Life Academy, Ooty. The Academy is a one of a kind school in India, with great students, faculty and facilities.

Scanning 120 in Kolkata

I need a good scanning facility for my 120 slides while I’m here in Kolkata, India. I have found one called DGVision but I wouldn’t classify their scanning as professional grade. They have a Nikon Supercoolscan 8000 ES and their scans consistently have horizontal scan lines throughout the image.

From a photo.net post dated October 2004 someone mentioned a place called “Color Magic of Lansdowne” that does drum scanning. I find this hard to believe but Kolkata is surprising sometimes. I also can’t find any other reference to them on the net or from photo places I’ve been to in Kolkata. I would be happy with just plain ol’ not-garbage scanning.

Thanks for your help in advance.

_Ian
