Id like to buy a used 35mm film camera in NYC or Mexico

Hi! I am in NYC, on my way to Mexico, and I’d love to buy a used 35mm Leica film camera. Maybe a canon (cause all my lenses are canons) but I would love the camera to be small and light, which is why I am thinking Leica…I can spend around 1,000.

Also, I am no techie, so if you just have some suggestions about great 35mm film cameras that would be awesome too.

I know this isn’t a place for buying/selling and tech advice, but I know so many wonderful people on here!

Don’t do it in Mexico unless you really are dying to pay 2 or 3 times more. Try Camera Traders in NY (not sure if still around)

Hi Katie,

If you can buy leica for this price it will be best choice.
Contax g1 or g2 are not exspensive, great smal and quiet cameras with excellent zeiss lenses also not expensive. For 1000 you should buy camera and three lenses 28,45,90.

Tried to send you a PM but not sure that my settings are working: If you need any lenses for the Leica, I have 28/1.9 Voigtlander Ultron. And if by Canon you meant SLR’s, I have and several FD lenses as well as one F1n and two T-90’ bodies. All in great condition. I am in NYC too.

If you are interested in a small SLR, the best model in my opinion is the Olympus OM series. It is manual focus only, but it comes with automatic/manual exposure. I would recommend the OM-4T/Ti, which comes with multi-spot metering. I have one OM-PC and OM-2000 for sale at a much less price than $1000. The former is also called the OM-40, one of the economy OM cameras and the latter is the last OM camera made by Cosina. Unfortunately I am in Baltimore, a few hour`s train ride from NYC.

If you already have the Canon lenses, the EOS 3 is a great body. You can definitely pick up a new or used body in NYC before heading off.
