Waiting is just a part of life in this rural part of West Africa. Family members sit outside the hospital room of an elderly woman who had surgery on her foot after almost losing part of it from a bicycle wreck. She had been perched up on the seat as her son pedaled the bike headed to this very hospital when her foot got stuck in the spokes. Upon arrival, doctors performed surgery inserting a metal rod in order to save the toe. She eventually recovered fully, as feisty and full of spunk as before the surgery!
