Dublin, Ireland, January 5, 2011:.This horse, just discovered by the ISPCA (Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) inspector is looking good. His new owner, on the picture, does not have a proper knowledge about horses, but treats him well. He keeps him on this field near motorway. ISPCA will take no action..Since the beginning of crisis, between 10 and 20 thousand horses have become homeless or went in the hands of the youths in urban areas. Lots of Irish people who used to buy horses for fun during the boom years of "Celtic Tiger", now are abandoning them faced with expenditure of 35 Euro a week to properly maintain a horse. This animal previously worth 2000 Euro now can be purchased for as little as 80 Euro. New owners keep their horses in city greens, city ruins, or their house gardens, in very bad conditions. Most do not get much food, many are starving, dying, being mistreated..(Photo by Piotr Malecki / Napo Images)
