An invalid elderly man sits in his one room house in Polly Ground, St. Catherine, Jamaica. I took this portrait as I went on a home visit with a local community development worker who was checking on this man's living arrangements. We found him to be without indoor plumbing and the house was falling down around him. I documented his living environment to see if we could help him get a better place to live. I found out recently that a year later, due to our work that he is now living in a new house with modern ammenties. Photo by Richard Sitler
