Holi has many given explanations . In the western world we see Holi as a joyous event, and have taken to tossing different color pastel chalk on each other as a joke. We lack the spiritual history and the frustration of centuries to really understand . All we see is the child in a mask and miss the centuries of suffering which continues today with the introduction of the western view point of life and leisure.
