Dhaka, Bangladesh. June 05, 2011 [DrikNEWS] - Thousands of police and RAB members patrolled the streets of Dhaka on Sunday as a nationwide strike called by the main opposition party paralyzed much of the city. It is reported that at least ten buses were set on fire on yesterday evening. BNP and its ally Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami enforced the strike since 6:00 AM today demanding the caretaker system must stay in place for holding parliamentary elections. Police and RAB picked up more than 40 activists of BNP and its party wings from several places including Paltan. Two cocktails were exploded near BNP party office. (image by adnan)
