Two Peshmergas, now integrated in the arrays of the military forces of the political party P.U.K., Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, watch at the high of Sipa the permeable mountainous border with Iran, Halabja area, Iraqi Kurdistan, Iraq, 2003/05/29.
The leaders of the military line of P.U.K maintain a pressed surveillance of the frontier area because they fear the return of members of the terrorist group Ansar-Al-Islam, expelled in the beginning of the war by the coalition forces together with the forces of P.U.K.
This Islamic radical group, with possible connections to Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, has a multinational composition, similar to the net Al Qaeda. It had taken, before the war, an enclave with 4000 civilians and several villas, close to the Iranian border, having imposed a fundamentalist regime type Taliban. Until they have been expelled, they spread the terror in the area and made countless atrocities against the population.
