Stephen tried getting to Spain three times before succeeding. The first time, he travelled from Cameroon to Morocco with false papers, but he was ultimately caught trying to climb the fences outside of Ceuta by the Moroccan authorities.  ÒI was lucky, because they didnÕt rob me or anything.  They just took us to the border and dropped us there.Ó

Many immigrants that make it to Algeria, Libya, Tunisia or Morocco suffer from police brutality and repression, including the confiscation of money, documents and personal belongings, before being jailed, abused and finally expelled at their Southern borders.
