Approximately 3 kilometers from the shoreline, the Lampulo district in Banda Aceh was one of the hardest hit areas. Comprising several villages, LampuloÕs population was close to 10,000, of which only a few hundred survived the mega-quake/tsunami that struck Aceh Province on December 26, 2004.
