In a shanty village on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, two street children stand next to a fire that surrounds their makeshift home on January 16. Many children in Cambodia's capital city have lost parents to Drug abuse, prostitution or an Aids related illness, casting them from a secure home life. Once on the streets they face abuse from older kids or adults and often band together for safety. Fire's in rural villages are common as the homes are often self made by street kids using highly flammable materials such as burlap, straw and wood.
