Tamil civilians displaced by Sri Lankan Army shelling in Batticaloa District seek shelter at a relief camp in Kokovil, Sri Lanka, Monday, Mar. 12, 2007. The number of IDPs in Batticaloa surged to over 200,000 in March due to intense shelling by the Sri Lankan military in the districts surrounding Batticaloa. To make room for the latest influx of IDPs, the Sri Lanka Military began forcibly resettling IDPs to Vakharai and Kiliveddi where there is still very little support from relief agencies.
