Dr. Darshan Brar, division head for the Plant Breeding Genetics and Biotechnology of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), holds a stalk of the institute's high yielding rice crop in Los Banos, Laguna. The Philippines is host to Asia's largest agricultural research facility with more than 100,000 rice varieties gathered all over the world.
