3- The Tigris mourned Baghdad when the Mongol leader, Hülagü, invaded the city and threw all the books and manuscripts into the river – the water turned the colour of ink.  Now Baghdad mourns its Tigris, which has become a hostage to barbed wire.  Neighbourhoods have emptied – their residents forced to flee for their lives.  And the sky has turned grey and black.
