Montane-Shola grassland ecosystem unique to the Nilgiris(the blue mountains),Mukurthi national park,Western Ghats,Tamilnadu,India.The grasslands absorb the rain water like a huge sponge and gradually release the water through springs into the streams.The Mukurthi peak is sacred to the Todas,one of the endemic tribes of Nilgiris.
