22 January 2009 - Bak District, Khost Province, Afghanistan -A wounded insurgent, presumably struck by artillery from coalition forces, 200 meters from the Pakistan border, is medevaced by a Blackhawk helicopter, via hoist, to Salerno for treatment. Coalition units air assaulted onto a nearby mountain to set up an observation point for four days. While maning the observation point, the units came under attack from insurgents, and returned fire with close air support, including F-15 Eagle fighter planes, A-10 Warthog fighter planes, AH-64 Apache Helicopters, OH-58 Kiowa Helicopters and artillery. Up to 22 insurgents were killed in the attack. Coalition forces sustained no casualties.
