Approximately 250 people took part in the Coney Island Polar Bear Club's annual New Year's Day swim. The event, which has taken place every year since 1903, was also observed by 1000 people on the shore. The weather was rainy, and both the air and water temperature were about 48 degrees Fahrenheit.
