The train lurched forward as the sun came up and we were again on our way. I sauntered over to the dining car, where I had a couple cups of bad instant coffee that cost more than Starbucks back home. The scenery outside was amazing in the valleys that weren't under attack by bulldozers or already covered with big concrete block buildings. The landscape shifted back and forth between these two extremes, while I sat amongst soldiers and police eating their hardboiled eggs for breakfast. (image by Ryan Gauvin)
