Int'l Under-15 Cricket Championships photos avail
|
If anyone has need, I have photos of the Under 15 Windies (West Indies) squad..Winners of the Tournament. Or, if you have ideas where to place, do tell..
The last such tournament-the Costcutter Under-15 World Challenge Championships-was held in England in 2000, with the West Indies emerging as winners.
This revival comes against a backdrop of a rise in youth violence in the Caribbean, when the area’s leaders are working to expand the range of opportunities and create an enabling environment to foster the development of the young. In April 2008, Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders held a special meeting for regional leaders to help formulate strategies that would enable the region to deal effectively with the crime and security situation.
The games, which began on April 19, 2008 at five venues in the Caribbean, are “set to act as a catalyst for the region’s fortunes in the game” The final matches were played on May 3rd and 4th, 2008 in Trinidad, with the Windies emerging as the victors.
Nevis’ Minister of Youth Development, the Hon. Hensley Daniel issued a call to help young people to turn away from crime, violence, and drug abuse.
“I want today’s young to play more. Play is vital throughout the life course. For youth play reflects impulse, diversion and preparation for adult roles. Play enhances social relations and child’s character and personality. It fosters co-operation, understanding and social bonding. “

You could try Australian publications- the Windies are huge out here as well.
You know cricket sportsmen are elevated to Herculean Hero in Oz!!!!!! I mean Shayne Warne sold lots of newspapers with his antics. (Bit like Beckham but much crasser) and Dennis Lillee is almost a god now in these parts.
Mike Bowers at SMH (Sydney Morning Herald) Bruce Daly at The Goodweekend-those are maybes but
Sunday Life/ the Australian Magazine and I am sure there are heaps of cricketing mags right across the all the Commonwealth countries could be interested.
Would love to see the work, Bob has given it the thumbs up so it would be great if you have it anywhere?
I am just about to relaunch lisahogben.com (hehehehe…. sounds so self important doesn’t it!) but I’ll let you all know soon> (you can get a sneak peak at www.lisahogben.com/new.htm, you may have to double click- its not finished yet but quiet feedback is welcome)
Goodluck with it and if you need addresses let me know!
