Ismael Ahmad

Born and raised in Oakland California, Ismael is currently a first year student at Howard University in Washington D.C. His interest in photography started when he took a basic photo class during his second year of high school. He pursued this interest after landing an internship with an art photographer in Emeryville in 2005. Here, he mostly worked with digital large format cameras, shooting rugs, sculptures and clothing. Later, his interst carried him back to 35 mm film. Since then, he has continued to shoot with his 35mm Olympus. He is currently working with a Nikon D50 DSLR. Though he is intending to major in Economics, Ismael is interested in photojournalism and is planning on taking a position at The Hilltop, Howard’s famous student produced daily newspaper.
