Ivan Chernichkin had his first camera given to him at the age of seven by his photojournalist father. During studies with the photographic faculty of the Kiev Institute of Culture and Arts he developed an interest in black-and-white photography. After time with My Sport and Commanda + sports magazine he made a working trip through Afghanistan, Iran and Azerbaijan, and later joined the daily newspaper Kommersant as a staff photographer. Since 2005 he has worked as a stringer for Reuters. Now work in weekly news magazine “Focus” as a staff photographer.
