A friend of mine just got a job with a fairly major online news network. She’s in need of freelance videographers and asked me if I’d be interested, since I am a photojournalist but with some video experience. I’ve never done spot news video before and have no idea what a good rate would be. I’m not clear yet on all the details but I’m pretty sure I would only be required to shoot video, maybe not even sound, and I doubt I’ll be doing any editing. As a photographer for something like this I would ask $50 an hour, depending of course how long the day was likely to be. Does that sound reasonable for video too?
