D1x Setup and Usage Tips?

Hi, I have just bought a second hand Nikon D1x. Can anybody offer me any setup and usage tips. I shoot RAW. I set my D100 to unsharpened and low contrast. Does the same apply to the D1x? Just found out how crap the battery is in the cold though!
