Aina Photo Agency and the Aina Photojournalism Institute are looking for a consultant director/administrator to oversee the logistical needs of both departments as AINA goes through the transition to becoming 100% self-sustaining and autonomous.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the physical transition of Aina Photo and the Photojournalism Institute to new premises. • Set up a new administration and financial accounts system for both departments within the new premises. • Set up computer labs, internet and functioning agency headquarters and archives. • Maintain contact with current clients and donors, re-establish contact with previous donors, and initiate contact with potential donors. • Establish new and enhance existing relationships with Schools, Universities and NGO’s requiring Aina Photojournalism institute’s skills in training. • Oversee and implement the new teaching curriculum. • Organize and help launch the AINA Photo agency archive. • Design a marketing strategy : Liaise with and pitch projects to international archives, media institutions, publishing companies, magazines. • Prepare comprehensive lists and engage with international photo festivals in order to present Aina Photo Agency photographers • Design and implement systems for fundraising and seeking photographic project work for the Aina Photo agency from diverse, new and existing institutional sources, including private foundations, government, international development organizations, NGOs, media and photographic agencies. • Train current Afghan staff in all of the above with a view of handing over the reigns by the end of the three month contract with both agencies functioning completely independently from outside/foreign influence.
Qualifications:
Essential:
• Must have a thorough knowledge of IT systems, Photographic/media software and computer management. • Must have at least ten years experience working within Photographic/media agencies and as a photographer. • Must have extensive knowledge of photographic archiving and digital work flow. • Must have a successful track record in all aspects of fundraising, research, administration, financial accountability and management and project development. • Must have a strong personal organization and initiative, with proven success at managing multiple projects. • Must have a successful track record of writing proposals and reports. • Must have excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills. • Must be comfortable with a team approach to management and the ability to manage the transition of two different departments, namely AINA Photo Agency and the Photojournalism Institute, simultaneously. • Fluent in English
Preferred:
• Experience in training staff • Skill in financial planning and income projections, comfortable with detailed financial data • Excellent general management skills, particularly in facilitation, team building and coordination • Experience living and working in developing countries, preferably in dynamic, insecure environments • Fluent in Farsi.
