Recent PostInterest in Emergency Medical Training in NYC?I’m writing to judge interest for a one or two day combat medicine course in NYC. The course would be taught by a Paramedic with 25+ years of service on the street. It would pay special attention to combat trauma in inhospitable conditions(under fire, without appropriate equipment). Pricing, scheduling, particulars of course offerings are not yet fully flushed out. But please note, this is project is not driven by financial motivations, but rather the dissemination of useful and accurate medical information. I do have a couple of questions however for those regularly in NYC.(or even not) Do you see the need or interest in attending such a course? How much time would you be willing to devote to such a course? (1,2,3 days?) Aside from acute trauma(ie bullet wounds/knife lacerations), what kind of medical information would you like(ie, identifying and treating infectious disease)? Are there other aspects of hostile environment training that you are interested in? I would be particularly interested in the comments of those who have attended other medical/combat preparation classes. Thanks and I look forward to the discussion or input. Keywords |
