About

José M. Osorio, 44, is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area and a graduate of San Francisco State University. José has worked for the Chicago Tribune from 1991 to 1999 and left for the Sacramento Bee where he was a staff photographer from 1999 to 2002. He rejoined the Chicago Tribune on September 20, 2002. Besides covering general news and sporting events, José has worked on a wide range of special projects including the effects of NAFTA on Mexican border towns, recruitment of priests for the Catholic Church, baseball in Cuba and the Dominican Republic. José was a contributor to Edward James Olmos’ Americanos: Latino Life in the United States book project and is a two-time winner of the National Association of Hispanic Journalist’s “Best of Show” award. He has received honors for the Baseball Hall of Fame for baseball photography and has garnered many Illinois Press Photographer Association awards. He lives in Chicago with his wife, Ann, and their son, Sam and daughter Julia.
