Are you tired of seeing the same clichéd images of humanitarian aid? Do you think it’s time to move on from pictures of starving children being rescued by heroic international aid workers?
Send us your picture of what humanitarian work really looks like. Help us celebrate the local people – teachers, health workers, mothers, farmers – who are the true faces of resilience and humanitarian assistance in 2014.
These are the First Responders. Send us your best photos which show these everyday heroes, you can change how people think about humanitarian aid forever.
International Medical Corps and the European Commission are running a photo competition open to photographers world wide.
We need you to submit pictures that will help us to challenge the clichés of how humanitarian work and charity is portrayed. Full details of the competition are here: http://www.firstresponderscampaign.org/photocompetition
We have been working with the photo journalist Ashley Gilbertson from VII who will be helping to judge the competition.
