Justin Jin

Born in 1974 in Hong Kong, I went to boarding school in England and read philosophy and political sciences at Cambridge University. My first job, as a Reuters correspondent, got me fired up as a journalist. While reporting, I became fascinated by photography and taught myself photojournalism. I soon left the wire service to produce in-depth reportage. I was selected for the World Press Photo Masterclass in 2002 and have been working on personal projects as well as commissions from magazines and museums, including the Rijks Museum in Amsterdam.

In 2006 I moved to Moscow to focus my work on Russia and China, having spent the previous seven years based in Amsterdam. I am a native speaker of Cantonese, Mandarin and English; I also speak Dutch and basic Russian and French.
